Home Care Visits.

This morning I got out of bed before 8 am because one of my PSW‘s came by to help me bathe and get ready for the day.   I always feel so great after a visit because there is only so much sponge bathing one can handle in any given week.

I am very fortunate to have these visits.  In fact, I have many regular and scheduled home visits from different health care personnel throughout the week.

They include:

Personal Support Workers (PSW)
I have 2 different PSW’s and they come a few times a week.  They help me bathe and do other tasks I’m too embarrassed to admit to right now.

Nurses/Pain Management Nurses
A nurse comes once a week to do a basic check up on me and to fill out some health forms in my case folder (pictured above and below).  Sometimes a pain management nurse will come instead to assess my current pain/fatigue/depression situation.  If some action needs to be taken, they contact my doctor directly to sort the issue (to save me from a trip to go see him since it’s always an ordeal to get me out of the house).

Physiotherapist
A physiotherapist comes occasionally to give me home exercises that are supposedly going to strengthen my legs.  Stretching exercises are also given to help cope with the chronic pain.

Dietician
A dietician will visit once in a while to go over my food intake.  I have an issue with certain food smells and textures since I got ill again this summer, so trying to find things I am able to eat (besides Froot Loops) can be challenging.

I really enjoy these visits, not only for the health benefits, but also because it’s nice to meet people and talk to them.  If you recall, I don’t have much of a social life because of my health, so interacting with different people can be as good for my health as the billion different medications I currently take.  Maybe even better!

Thanks for reading.  Diane.

I am very blessed and so fortunate! I live in Canada and our health care is free – which is a Godsend because I can’t earn any income to pay for insurance right now. Blessed I am, indeed!
